ELRP is a government of Netherlands funded and FAO-supported project that seeks to support the vulnerable populations including IDPs, returnees and host communities.

The project is vital in improving self-reliance and coping capacities of the people in need by protecting, restoring and promoting their livelihood and living standards. It does contribute to the protection of vulnerable populations affected by crisis against hunger, malnutrition, and destitution.

The emergency packages include seeds (crop and vegetable kits), tool, fishing gears, and gunny bags. Seeds are sometimes procured through seed fairs locally by link seed propagating farmers to seed markets (other farmers) who get the seeds for planting.

The rationale of ELRP is to produce, achieve or deliver assistance to emergency livelihood support provided to the most food insecure and vulnerable households.
