The General Food Distribution project is being implemented through cash-based transfers and GFD+, with the goal of providing substantial assistance to 8,500 households, primarily focusing on crisis-affected individuals such as women, men, girls, and boys (refugees). And it runs for 12 months. Each household receives an amount to suffice for up to 15 days of food needs per month; this enables beneficiaries to meet their basic food and nutrition requirements.
The GFD+ activities go beyond immediate relief; they are intended to instil in the beneficiaries a sense of recovery and resilience. This strategy addresses not only immediate food and nutrition needs but also capacity-building activities that improve recipients’ long-term livelihood prospects. These activities are critical to fostering resilience and ensuring long-term development in affected communities. Key activities of the GFD+ include:
These components complement the cash transfer programme, ensuring that the GFD intervention is a short-term solution and a step towards sustainable resilience and recovery. The combined effect of these activities aims to meet immediate needs and lay the foundation for a more secure and self-sufficient future for the beneficiaries.
