Background and Objectives: The Social and Economic Empowerment of Women (SEEW) project, a collaborative effort by the Star Trust Organization (STO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has been a transformative initiative in Western Equatoria State, South Sudan. Since September 2021, the project has focused on empowering women in five counties: Yambio, Maridi, Mundri West, Mundri East, and Mvolo, by equipping them with crucial skills and resources for economic independence.
The SEEW project aimed to uplift 350 women, organized in 15 groups, by enhancing their livelihoods through skill development in various agricultural value chains. The initiative focused on comprehensive training that included technical, vocational, and livelihood skills, coupled with business and entrepreneurship management education.
